So the areas I had planned on hunting this season haven't been producing the way I had hoped. Yesterday I decided to go check out some new country. A little late in the year for scouting but I was up for a change of scenery. I found some good looking ground on google earth and although it was going to be a bit of a drive, I decided to go out and ground proof it. By the time I got to where I thought I should be it was fairly late. I started hiking nice and slow and kept an eye out for probable bedding sites. After about an hour and a half I hadn't seen much for sign. I came to a brushy ridge and figured it was worth a look. It was noisier than hell but I slowly made my way up it anyway. I thought I was wasting my time with the noise and all but I thought if nothing else I could get a better lay of the land if I got a little higher. I was about 100 yrds from the top when I turned my back to the hill to look around the valley. After a good gander I decided I might as well make the last bit to the top and see whats up there. I turned around to keep heading up and there he was standing up staring at me, about 50 yrds away. A quick look told me he was plenty good enough for today. One shot dropped him where he stood.

Well, gun went bang, buck went down so preformed good enough I guess. Hoping to finish product testing on a whitey this weekend

Gus nice region 3 buck, a little weak on the back tines that's how I know lol.
Hey a 170 typical frame buck nah hice.
reg 3 for some reason has problems with the back tine on each side, I don't know why but it happens lots.
