We didn't do quite as good as Marc and Field Marshall, however, we got into them this morning too. I had to work at the barn, so joined John an hour late - it's never too late. It was very, very wet, but the birds were flying.

John had 7 birds by the time I got there and 8 five minutes later so he started picture taking.

He didn't quite get the bird falling, but you can see the splash.

Rayne worked hard.

Anyhow, an hour later we called it breakfast. Ended with 14 ducks, and shoulda had a goose.

A bonus (after the thread on banded birds and John only getting one in 35 years) - a banded drake mallard.

You Fairbridgers have a lot more water in your fields than we do??
It's supposed to keep raining all week! you're going to need an ARK to shoot out of soon . Nice going on the leg ring.:)
Cheers, Field Marshal.

Nothing deadily then a flooded field for a duck shoot. Good job.

Good going! Looks like the river is jammed up again this year? We could hear shots coming from your direction and we also heard a few coming from the bay. We had a flock of widgeon and some teal but 95% of the birds flying this morning where mallards.

I'd almost guess that the single goose you are referring to made it's rounds around our spread as well but I hesitated hoping it would make another pass a bit closer but it never presented itself.

It'll be interesting to see where the drake was banded as we also had a banded hen in the bag today.

Nice Job Tanya and John, that would have been a great way to spend a saturday. I went shooting clays instead, and not very well either so maybe it's best I got in some practice:)

My sister is a lefty too. She has her 20ga. single shot right now, but for the future probably a small lefty 870, if they make one??

John cut down the stock on my 12g so that it fits me, which is important. However, I wouldn't be cutting one down if'n she's going to grow out of it. We started our boys when they were 10 with 12 guages and it never bothered them.
