If there is a few guys out there looking to learn to cape, I was thinking we could put something together this winter for those wanting to learn to cape. I am going to save all my heads to practice on. For all those interested, or those looking to help, save your heads. Perhaps we can get MainlandHunter to host an HBC sponsored event for Lower Mainlanders. If anybody else wants to do the same in other parts of BC, just post it on this thread.

I am looking for a mule deer cape I will be getting my 5 point mule deer antlers mounted this year if I can find a cape ,it has to be a large cape I need in order to hold the rack I have it made the BC record book years back.

Great idea. I would definately be all over learning to cape. ...now if I could just harvest a few critters  I would donate the heads to this great project. Looking forward to hopefully having this idea take root.

Your taxidermist should be able to supply you with one. They're a dime a dozen. Shouldn't cost you more than $100.

I'm keen to learn, but as we've already disposed of our deer noggins for this year, I won't have one to practice on. I will watch and learn though!!

I might have a bunch of heads coming up from my brothers and I. We have 3 flat top draws. I already put another one I had donated in the freezer too. Now all we need is some bucks. My brothers might be interested in coming too, but I am sure we could take turns on them. The have 2 eyes and 2 ears afterall.

When I was dropping off my buck at Sumas Meats last month there were five or six heads outside the shop that were going to be thrown in the dumpster. I'm sure a head or two could be gotten from them if you dropped by.

Here is a video that I did but it features Ray Weins doing the fine caping.

I am in the Lower Mainland and I am interested. I have had a doe head in my freezer for 2 years thinking I should practice turning lips, eyes and ears. This is what I have been waiting for.
