First off would like to thank partner for all the info he gave me, it was more han I had hoped for.

Now the question is what to use to knock one these down, I have a T3 300 USM. Sorry at this time I do not load my own so will have to rely on factory loads. I have a box of Winchester Ballistic Silvertip 180GR and one Federal PowerSok 180GR soft point (these soft points have a tendency to flatten the tip in the Mag. from the recoil) both are right on at 200 yards.
As I've been informed and saw big animal, thick fur and tough hide, last thing I want to do is tickle one.
Any suggestions??

I would spend the money and get a nice box of Federal premium TTSX in 180-200gr.

Never shot the cal, never loaded it, but this will hardly tickle anything!

The ballistic silvertips are a nosler bullet i believe and not suitable for that heavy of game ( i say this being a big nosler fan). I would think that a 180 grain would be ok if it is a big game bullet, something like a partition, grand slam, barnes, etc. Personally i would look for a 200 grainer or better. I dont think i would be happy with either of the loads you mentioned.

both bullets you spoke of would be terrible choices because they are designed to fragment on impact. That is not good on a big animal.... Go get a box of Federal premium 180gr TSX or Winchester Surpreme 180gr Elite xp3 or E-Tip and use those

My Bison is going to tumble to a 200 Gr. Partition Nosler in a 300 Win Mag handloaded with IMR 4831 - 69 Gr. .....

It's knocked everything else down this province has to offer.

Good luck to you, just stay with-in the guidelines in the package the Gov. sent you.

This is what a 225gr BarnesX looks like after going head on through a Bison. The Load was a 338 win mag, 70.5gr H4350. http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/medium/102_0730.jpg (http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/showphoto.php?photo=12916&size=big&cat=500&ppuser=10493)

Two more choices:

180gr Trophy Bonded
http://www.federalpremium.com/products/details/rifle.aspx?id=761

180 Gr Nosler Partition

Good luck.

Any and I repeat Any premium bullet 200gr or better will do the job provided it is designed to stay together, penetrate deep and break bones and keep on going. Now having said that you must be sure that your rifle likes what ever load you choose. Buff can be a bit cantakerous and do not like to be shot, you need to make sure you shoot straight and are accurate. Remember bullet placement is everything.

Ours fell to a 300 win mag with 180 tsx .... went through 1 leg; heart, couple ribs and got stuck in the offside skin. Took 2 steps and fell over.
