View Full Version : How has BT deer hunting been so far this year?

I personally think it's slower than usual. Maybe it's the weather change, or the hunting pressure, or the wild fire, or the wolf packs...or the combination of all. Seems the rutting hasn't started yet, or it's pretty hidden this year. I did observe some strange deer behaviors. The animals are way smarter than we think. :cool:

My Hunting partner took a nice 3x3 on the weekend The buck was by himself and was nice and fat.

Doesn't 'feel' right yet. Need a good cold snap but I might head out in the morning...

It will only get better in the next few weeks as the rut kicks in.Sure hope its raining and blowing this weekend.

They are starting to show themselves more and more. My gut feeling is this weekend a few will fall:-D.

a few have already fallen in this past week. keep your eyes on the tree line and watch those spots you have seen does all season. it will all come together. good luck everybody.

September was good with mule bucks. But for this whole October all I've seen were does. I've counted at least 40 does in October, but no buck yet. I know in some areas it's been so dry that some hunters didn't even see a piece of hair.

I took my first goat hunting trip with my friend after Thanksgiving. Unexpectedly cold, -15 I think. Spooked a billy out of bush right at treeline. I fell on rocks while tracking him on boulder. The nice Remmy 700 LSS now has a few marks on its barrel. Leupold did hold its ground though.

Shooter the Junior: your comment almost made me cry, truly. That was a nice show off! ;)

blacktails have just started to chase really hard, as I have seen 7 bucks in the last 5 days....

Its hard for me to get motivated to chase a BTD after my 7 week hunt in the EK.

I will try to get out in the next week :wink:.
