I am interested in one of these packs. I have looked at the X1 at WSS and like the size and feel of it. I see on their website that the X1E is geared more towards rifle hunters (no bow holder?). Also from the web site the X1A1 seems to be the same as the X1? Other than that I havn't been able to find much info on the differences between them. I don't need the bow feature but would really like a pocket long enough for my spotter (B&L 15-45x60). Anyone have any more info / experiences / reviews they can share?
Thanks .....K

X1A1 has a long pocket that would fit a spotter.......it's actually for the H2O 2L bag.

x1a1 is too small for a day pack. Just my opinion. Always got gear tied to the outside of it when I'm hunting.

my X1 works great as a day pack. rifle, spotter, tripod, and hiking poles all fit nicely with enough gear for a LONG day in the mountains...

Nice picture.

Where does the meat go?

there is enough room left in that pack for 30lbs of deboned meat. and there is the strong shepa, errr friend that is taking the picture.

the center divider in the X1 folds down. if you didn't want to debone, you could fit a leg in the pack with a little trimming.

it's a daypack, not THAT much meat on a goat/sheep/deer. always the 2 trip option.

I've got one. Usually look like a travelling gypsy.

In November there usually isn't room for all my clothes if I'm hiking in and sitting.

2 guys and a deer means quarters tied together over the shoulder, cause the packs full - not so comfortable. Guess it depends how far you need to walk out. If I'm hiking in a couple hours it's usually strapped to my pack frame.

I'd opt for something a tiny bit bigger- just my opinion.

I'll be picking up a dragonfly/J1 for next season to augment the X1. "daypack" for me usually means I'm not more then a few hours from camp on foot or I'm willing to do a second trip. late season would require a much bigger pack, for the reasons you've stated.

I have been looking for a late season deer pack for a few years. I just about picked up the J107 a couple of years ago but made do with what I have. I was also thinking about the X1 but I was concerned that there would be limited room with lots of late season layers to drag along. Sounds like some mixed opinions here. I figured that if you did need to get a deer out having the gun in the scabbard would obviously free up both hands for dragging. How far do you really want to drag one though? Usually a little shy of where the deer died. So if your a hunter who is a few km's back most of the time it sounds like the bigger pack is the better option, right?

Thanks guys.

The X1E is 2300 CI's but the local WSS does not carry that model. The X1A1 (which I concluded is the exact same thing as the X1) is 2100 CI's and in stock so I went and took a good look at it. As a strictly day pack I'm positive that I can carry all I would need for the day + as much meat as I would care to carry in one trip.

I do agree though that it would not be big enough if I had to include any overnight gear. So why not buy a pack that would work for both right? lol :-o

So now I'm on the fence between the X1E @ 2300 and the Just 1 which for about $100 more goes from 2900 to 4600 CI's (and is in stock!)!

lol ... I should have known that asking for advice would most likely result in shelling out more $$$

Thanks again for the help!
