Quesnel BC. – RCMP say that they are recommending charges in connection with an incident on the new Kluskoil Rd, off the Nazko highway west of Quesnel.

The incident took place on October 1st of this year when two men under contract by the Provincial Forestry Ministry were stopped by a number of natives who said they were maintaining a blockade on the Kluskoil Rd, about 75 kilometres west of Quesnel. Four people were in the vehicle that was maintaining the road block that stopped the forest workers, three men and a woman, one of the men threatened the two, saying he had a 30-30 rifle.

The four were arrested, with police recommending that one be charged. Those charges have not been laid as of October 26th. The man who police are recommending charges against has been released from custody.

Meantime an off duty RCMP Aboriginal Officer from Vancouver Island who was hunting in the area with another off duty officer, said he also was approached by a group of people. He did not file a complaint. He said that he had obtained permission to hunt on the reserve, but the group said he was not on that reserve.

Two blockades were established on the road. The matter first came to the attention of Opinion250 during an interview with Forest Minister Pat Bell who said he had been informed about the incident. Those two blockades were just two of seven blockades that were in operation at the beginning of October. Two in the Telegraph Creek area of BC , they were removed last Wednesday, one near the Mt Milligan mine site, and two in the Browns Creek area of Southern BC, which is now a subject of a court order.

This doesn't jive with the email that I got that originated from the MoF, which states:

"a native man got out of the truck and produced a rifle. He then aimed the rifle at the head of one of the employees and chambered a round."

Allegedly.....
