We just got our moose and was wondering when you clean the moose do you have to leave the head on it for the butcher?

I have never left the head on any deer for the buthchers but I heard a rumor that you have to leave the head on it.

I'm pretty sure you have to leave evidence of sex(be it antlers or sex organs) until it is at a cold storage plant or game cutter.

Its way easier and cleaner to leave the reproductive organs on the animal. Also if you 1/4 it leave a patch of hide on each 1/4 per the regs. I 1\/4 the moose and leave the reproductive sac on the one 1/4 with hair on it and put a bag around it and tie it on with an elastic band.

If the season is based on antler size, ie immature moose, the skull/antlers must be present

As was mentioned......Proof of sex attached and antlers must accompany but not needed to be attached.
