Christmas came early! I got my mule deer back, sent it in last January. It was done by Dan Vanzanten, Glacier Mnt Taxidermy www.glaciermtntax.com (http://www.glaciermtntax.com) out of Cranbrook. I think it looks absolutely fantastic, the detail in the eyes and mouth/nose are incredible. He did full detail in the eyes and bored out the nostrils and painted. Its a semi sneak with a left turn. One ear is cocked back which I think looks very natural and also makes him look wider. Very very happy camper right here!

Beauty buck bruin

You can tell a good job when you see one. There are alot of taxidermists, but few who are artists as well.

Awsome mount! It is nice to see some of these actually come back from the so-called taxidermists out there. ( I'm not trying to discredit the ones that are doing an awsome job)

That's a beauty, very nicely done. How much does a mount like that cost roughly, and how long does it take to get it done?

This is the story from last year. I should probably post the original as my version has probably changed somewhat by now!!http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=26338
It cost just over $700 all said and done which is a bit more than others but I thought it would be worth the extra $100 or so for a really well done mount. If you stretch it out over the 20 years or whatever you will be looking at it for it adds up to very little. He will be getting any other work of mine for sure.
I think I scored him around 185" or so.

Great looking mount. That taxidermist is an artist. he gave great attention to details right down to moisture droplets on the nose. Absolutely fantastic work.

I am doing an article on the art of taxidermy. I think you just gave me an idea which taxidermist I should interview.:-)

By all means, he's a great guy to talk to and loves to talk about his work/art. He's actually won several awards for deer and sheep.

Helluva buck too!!

You can beat good taxidermy. No regrets paying the little extra for it as you'll be looking at it for a loooooooooong time to come!

That has got to be one of the most impressive Taxidermy jobs I have ever seen. The guy who did that is an artist. The eyes and nose are incredible but those ears take the cake.
