Yesterday while parked in a remote clearing I heard the sound of barking dogs. The dogs were moving quickly as evidenced by the change in tone.

I promptly turned on the electronic predator call. Near dark the barks were getting closer to my location.

No howling, no yipping - just barking.

Wolves or coyotes?

I've heard coyotes bark around my place, not sure about wolves.

I've heard them both bark. The coyote's were more higher pitched & yippy while the the wolves have a deeper big dog bark. But, I'm no expert & these are just my opinions based on what I've heard.

wild dogs?

Highly unlikely. The Indians in this area are responsible pet owners.

'They" say wolves dont bark, but I've heard them.
Both species do, coyotes sound 'shrill'
You're still wearing that campfire dried clothing arent you... They smelled you and barked to make your presence known to all!

I am going to dog creek to pick up a few dogs to sell in the buy sell, I figure if I bring a trailer full back, $100 a piece I can make a quick $10G
They won't even notice any missing I bet.

I am certain if I drop a wild horse or ten the wild dogs will come out of the woodwork. Is there a market for 2 and 3-legged dogs?

Thanks. I was hoping you would comment. I am certain it is wolves. I heard them again tonight. They came in to me then went quiet.

yes wolves bark. heard them two weeks ago just before they ran around my tent. I'm going back this weekend to shoot a nice black one for a rug I hope.
