I was out today calling moose - maybe a bit late in the season, but I think it can still be productive. Moose more likely to respond out of curiosity than anything else. I happened to discover that an empty plastic Gladware sandwich container with the lid on makes a rather impressive antler rub sound. Use the edge of a container with the lid on to scrape against branches, rub and bang the container as well.
It was in fact very effective because, a few minutes after doing this and contemplating how realistic it sounds as antlers, a bull moose came out of the brush to investigate!! :eek: Too damn bad he wasn't spike/fork!! :x No need to carry extra crap around in the bush. Just eat yer sandwich and start antler rubbing.
