Some may remember that I took a young fella out for opening day in Sept. and he harvested a 3x4 buck. This weekend in Tulameen was to be his brothers opportunity, HBC member,Mud-dog27,at 21 years old is still a young fella to me.
Mud-dog27 has started an apprenticeship program and has not had an opportunity to get out hunting.
Let me first say that I'm not the biggest fan of any buck season and again not a big fan of hunting weekends.I find the weekdays and 4 point seasons have way less hunting pressure, but the plan was for this weekend. The weather was horrible and we did encounter lot's of hunting pressure, but Mud-dog27 managed to clip a tag on a nice little 3x4 mulie on Saturday a.m.
I had another friend put a stock on a small buck, when 5 shots rang out directed at the same buck.
Apparently another hunting party had seen the buck from a different vantage point around the corner.Although my buddy didn't feel threatened by the shots,he did stop to think as he was unaware of there presence.
He did talk to the other party of 3 and informed them that they should put some time in at the range as all shots missed there target.
We also heard a cougar screaming on both Friday and Saturday night from the cabin,we originaly thought it had taken down a deer, but now wonder if it is breeding season?
Any input?

Those big cats will come into heat all year.Is it typical to hear them screaming at night?
When we first heard it on Friday night,we assumed it had brought down a deer, but after hearing it again on Saturday night we thought possibly a mating call?

Congrats! What does a screaming cougar sound like as I heard some strange sounding sounds yesterday in a spot that supposed to hold high numbers of cougars.
