Me and my friend were at Princeton a couple weeks ago for a mule buck, and we spotted this bear on the side of one of the FSRs. I'm no bear expert and I was wondering if anyone could tell if it's a Black bear or a Grizzly. sorry the pic is not perfect but he only gave me 10 sec to take one.

You got a picture of his back end and then went and checked out his foot prints , but you didnt get a pic of those??
Where they too dissappearing before your very eyes ???
Just heckeling a wee bit.
Witth a pic of the prints it would ahve been a tad easier to confirm or not blk.(cinnamon)bear or a grizzly bear.

It's a bipolar bear. They are very unpredictable.

Would this not be illegal? As you would first need to verify that it is not in a family unit. If you just jumped out and shot it there could have been cubs somewhere...

I didn't have a tag anyways, and since this is my first year hunting I'm not really after bears for now.

I'll let him grow for now :)

I would have to say it is a black bear. I saw a very similar blackie a couple of years ago, while hunting mule deer just past Princeton. Made me wish i had bought a tag.

Black... But depends what side of the MU you were on. It might be a spirit bear. A 10 second glimpse makes me think that it was definitely a spirit bear because they are so elusive!!
