The hound and I went out in the pouring rain and fog this morning. Saw 2 small bucks with a doe just at first light, but they were milling around together and I just couldn't get a good bead on either of the bucks before they bailed on me.

Went and checked an area I used to hunt with my dad 20 years ago, and spotted this fat 4x3. He headed for the thick willows, but luckily he came back out and gave me another chance. The 150 gr Scirocco did its job from the 7RM. I had just split him open when one of my friends came by and helped me clean him, drag him out to the road, and load him up. Perfect timing! Thanks Brian!

I've got lots of soaking wet gear drying out right now!

Rain sucks, but we do need it , Nice buck FD. It was thundering and raining so hard here an hour ago that the dogs wouldn't go out.

I'll give ya a call when a whitey falls in a God-forsaken gulch somewhere! :p Pretty easy drag this time around, plus I had Brian C's help. Dragged him out on a game trail that a moose had run through this morning, likely just a few minutes before I shot the buck!

Must be the seat covers you are drying out....

King of the Road triumphs again. But you're raising the bar a bit with that one. Lucky for you the gayly dressed bowhunters don't like getting their camo wet eh?

When do we go for "our" Leh doe draw?

Yeah, the gayly dressed bow hunters stayed home today and let the real men with rain slickers have the bush to themselves. :p

I'm down to one deer tag left - the doe may get it in the first week of December if no whitey bucks are stupid enough to stand on the road closer to home.

Boxhitch - the leather just wipes dry with a paper towel. ;-)

Yup, he did his usual "track and find" after the buck did its 25 yard death run. 8)

Curious, What kind of breed is your dog? some kind of wolf or deer hound? Looks to be a loyal bush dog.

For the most part, he's a wolfhound. They were bred for their eyesight - he can spot a chipmunk crossing the road 200 yards away! He's got a great nose on him too. He's a good mutt to have along on a huntin' or fishin' trip.

Dog is 3/4 useless, 1/4 mutt. Wouldn't recommend it unless you like your walls covered in diarrhea and you enjoy yelling.

It works good for tracking the Dude down at his secret fishing lakes. You can usually hear him yelling at that dog from the next MU.:lol::lol:

That dog's the only one who can stand being all cabbed-up with F/D's stinky deer sausage farts. No wonder he's a sight-hound...had his sinuses burnt out yrs ago:razz:.
