Only a thousand words? - I'd say triple that from the grin on his face - Congrats - I can remember that feeling - and every one after is just another reminder!

Not too much of a story to go with it. We started the day hiking in to a honey hole at first light and saw absolutley nothing. went for a drive to check out a new area only to run into work crews and other hunters. During the day we saw maybe a dozen Does but none of them would grow antlers no matter how long we looked at them. We decided to call it a day around 3:30 and head down the mountain. I wanted to check one last nice area, turn off the main only to run into a couple of quads. Figured I'de leave the area to themand turn around. Got back on the main and notice a road I hadn't gone on before just down the road so we figured what the heck lets try it. Not 300 yards down the road we saw a Doe in a small cut block. We glassed for a bit but saw nothing else. I was just about to drive when Brett saw another Doe, so we got out and glassed some more when sure enough here comes a couple of little ones followed by the Buck. Brett set up on his shooting stick aiming down a good shooting lane that the Buck was heading for. When he got there I stopped him with a call and Brett pulled the trigger. Hammered him just behind the left shoulder, cut through the vitals and shattered the right shoulder. Dropped him in his tracks. It was a beauty of a shot. I'm very proud of my little hunting partner!

The tine that looks broken is actually growing that way. If they damage their anters in the previous season, does that affect the growth pattern the following season??
