View Full Version : New rifle now need a new scope

Hey, just bought a .300 winny and id like to slap a new scope on it cause my Bushnell Trophy bites the big one. Ive been lookin at a lot of scopes and id like to keep it around $400. Id really like it to have elevation turrets so I can no exactly where im hittin and no more guess work. Also ive been seeing lots of bullet compensation reticles, are the BS? Cause how do they know if im shooting a 243 with 85's or a 300 with 220's. Ive looked at and considered:
I think these 3 have elevation turrets but Im not too sure if im reading incorrectly.

Vortex Viper 3-9
Weaver Super Slam 2-10
Alpen Apex 3.5-10

And if I cant find one with turrets that I like ill be going for the Elite 4200 3-9

Any advice or reccondmondations would be appreciated

I have a Vortex Viper 3x9x 40 with the BDC rectile it is a great scope very clear. Yes it is adjustable. They give you instructions on how to use the rectile. Most you'll have to do is go to your bullet of choices website and get your bullet's data

Go to Grouse river (one of the sponors on HBC) they are the best price I've seen so far and they ship to your door in 3 days (you could probably talk them into free shipping )

Oh okay sounds good, are there adjustable elevation turrets or just the BDC? And how accurate are the BDC's?

Thanks, and there is also a $50 usd rebate for vortex vipers. I think im leaning that way.

Do a search for "vortex" here on the site and you'll see that I've been singing their praises for a few years now. I own a set of binos plus a riflescope (Diamondback) and I couldn't be happier with the Vortex lineup.

viper 3-9x40. Have one on my 30-06. Love it so much.

Did before posting thread :) But the thing I cant find anywhere for sure, Does the viper have an elevation turret? But I REALLY like the fact that the weaver is 2-10 but nobody seems to have one

I also have a vortex diamond back scope, 4-12x40 and it has those dots on the cross hairs... whatever there called. I have it on my .17hmr and love it. Would be a great scope on your .300 aswell i think.

yes adjustable windage and elevation turrets. I mailed in the rebate a month ago (maybe a month and a half) haven't seen anything yet

Okay, thats the scope im getting than. Ill be ordering it soon, Thanks a lot guys
