First of all, I'd like to thank Elkdom, todbartell, and mountainman for the advice. Since your advice was all the same, I decided to go out yesterday and only use a cow call. Within 30 minutes of hunting, this 5x5 was down. I didn't even hear him. He just popped up, and was walking in pretty fast. Being by myself, and my first animal larger than a grouse, it took me from 7:15am to 1:00pm to get this guy into my truck. That includes 1.5hours of quadding back and forth though. I had to pack him out in two trips. I'm pretty sure that he is the same guy I called in a month ago. Same spot, and same number of points.

Since some people are curious about what they were shot with, I used a Tikka 30-06 with a 180gr bullet. My first shot hit him through the shoulder blade and as he was limping, I managed to hit him in the neck area and drop him. I couldn't find where exactly that second shot went though.

Elkdom, I noticed you're from Dawson. If you ever want to take on another hunting partner, I'm always looking for someone.

Congrats on the elk. Are you from the Dawson area? I spend many days hunting solo and would be willing to take on a partner at times. I'm getting older and it's starting to be a little too much like work!

Little Hawk, no the hair wasn't standing up, but I guess the knees were shaking. Not as much as they were the first time I saw him, hence why I didn't get him that time.

And about the pictures, I don't know how to post bigger pictures, or more than one so that is why it is only the one picture.
