I must be blind because it doesn't show in the 2010 synopsys region 5 any moose listed doesn't that mean no harvesting any moose?

Are they rutting there yet? I was out in 5-1 last week and so lots of cows and calfs but only one bull and no calling of any kind?

I was out in 5-1 this past weekend for a 5 day mule deer hunt. saw about 11 moose, 4 nice matures.. one appeared to be rutting as he stopped 25 yards away staring at me as i called. No grunts though, maybe the full moon was a factor as well..

Cheers

the rutt was on as we called in 2 of the 3 and they came out of the bush hard with one following 2 cows. I am a believer now that calling is a great way if you know they are in the area instead of just road hunting.

Love it when im in a meadow 100 yards or so off the road toying around with big rutting bulls. The sounds of trucks passing by only 100 metres away on the FSR is like music to my ears! Bundle up and take a hike! I guarentee alot more success!

Pre-Season scouting is a big factor also, although the bulls may move around ALOT during the rut, the cows tend to stay in the same areas. Areas thick with cows in the pre-season make for ideal calling places as these will be where the bulls are headed come the rut..

PM me for any moose calling info.

Cheers, Chris

I was out there the same time trying to cut my shared bull LEH tag.
