>>
>>Here's a thought to warm some of your hearts...
>>
>>From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia
>>
>>Hi friends, I thought you all would like to see the real figures
>>from Down
>>Under. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia
>>were forced by
>>a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by
>>our own
>>government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500
>>million
>>dollars.
>>
>>The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up
>>3.2
>>percent, Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent;
>>Australia-wide, armed
>>robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)! In the state of
>>Victoria alone,
>>homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while
>>the law-
>>abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not! and
>>criminals still
>>possess their guns!)
>>
>>While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease
>>in armed
>>robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the
>>past 12
>>months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is
>>unarmed.
>>There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults
>>of the
>>elderly.
>>
>>Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety
>>has
>>decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended
>>in "successfully ridding Australian society of guns." You won't see
>>this on the
>>Canadian evening news or hear your Member of Parliament
>>disseminating this
>>information.
>>
>>The Australian experience proves it. Guns in the hands of honest
>>citizens
>>save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the
>>law-abiding
>>citizens.
>>
>>Take note Canadians, before it's too late!
>>
>>FORWARD TO EVERYONE ON YOUR EMAIL LIST.
>>
>> DON'T BE A MEMBER OF THE SILENT MAJORITY.
>>
>> BE OF THE VOCAL MINORITY WHO WON'T LET THIS HAPPEN IN CANADA.
>>
>>

i just copyed this and emailed it to everyone on my list, and asked everyone to pass it on. if everyone on this site would do the same we could educate alot of people about what will happen if the libs get in. we could swing the vote and save our guns!

Sorry, you'll have to back this up w/ facts before I jump in.

- where was this quote pulled from?
- where did he (the officer) get his facts from?

This could be VERY good stuff if it can be substantiated.

There's some pretty impresive #'s in your post. #'s that couldn't be scoffed at buy the people that are trying to ram this sh** (gun bans) down our throats. If we could put some backbone to it (the post).

Do we have any members that know someone from the land 'Down Under' that could steer us to some kind of university study or govt stats?

SOMEONE has to be keeping an eye on this SOMEWHERE.

When ever you wonder about a story you can usually check it out at http://www.snopes.com/

It first came out in 2001 - there are some truths to it and some not so true...

Thank you willy442 for this valuable information. I have copied it and sent it with my Master Butchers Choice Newletter to all 250 subccribers plus to every friend in Canda and to many News papers of which I have editorial email adresses. I urged every recipient to send it on to their friends and family.

A current opinion pole states that most Canadians are against stricter gun control in favour of stricter punishment of crimminals, we need to make the best of this favourable situation and drill it home hard to everyone. It is not the guns that kill people it is our court system and the judges.

It is just going to show you how corrupt politicans are, they rather would be caught with their pants down than use commonsense or admit that they have it all wrong for many years now.
