Well here goes,
Transplanted Eastcoaster out to get my first taste of big game hunting. Scouted hard in Region 8 for a few weeks and on week 3 saw a big blackie in nice cut about 500 yards away. Little to far for a crack...next week.
Came back the following week and headed straight for the spot I had seen him earlier. Nothing...sat my butt in the scorching heat (thank god its over) and decided lunch was a better idea. Headed back for camp and only made it a couple hundred yards! There he was 150 out and just as shocked to see me. He bailed down a steep pitch into a nasty little coolie. He only had two choices...stay in the coolie where I couldnt see him at all...(and live) or head up the steep ridge on the other side heading for high ground. The latter served me best! Up he came making a break for the top. A quick whistle and a broadside snapshot later and he was down after a 30 yard crash through the bush. I couldn't be happier. They dont make these babies back east! Thanks to my buddy Kel for all the help and tips.
