Took one day to chase the elusive early season BT buck ideally with a velvet rack. I went up to my spot really really early. I did find BTs, but they were only two does. I know the bucks are around, but they aren't hot enough to give me a good look. But I was able to get to the does as close as 5 meters, and they still weren't sure what I was. They even walked around me. That was a happy good time. So on their way down the mountain, I took this video (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v456/rockrolling/Squamish%202009-09-25/?action=view¤t=Squamishblacktail2009-09-25.flv).

Then I hiked up a well covered abandoned trail straight up with a friend who came to join me later. I was targeting the top of the mountain where there are three nice little lakes/ponds. To get there, we had to gain 1000 meters of net elevation. Within 2 hours I dragged my friend up for 700 meters of net elevation, but then his high blood pressure kicked in which forced us to give up. The top was so close! I know the big guys are up there. Maybe next time, or next year.
