Hi,
So my buddy calls me this afternoon to go duck hunting just outside of Kamloops.
We arrive at a small lake in the forest and lug his canoe to the edge where we discover a cow moose and its calf stuck up to their bellies in mud, unable to move. They are both exhausted and I am convinced they would have perished before they saw another sunrise.
So my friend and I spend the next two and a half hours pushing, pulling and prying to get them out.
It was dark when we had finished but, thankfully cow and calf were extracated and alive, if very tired - as were my buddy and I.
A thoroughly unsuccessful duck hunt but really satisfying none the less.
Tack

Wow good job. I bet you have a good sleep tonight as you deserve it. Stories like this that the anti's never bring attention to. Hunters doing great things for nature's animals. WTG.

Hi,
Many thanks for the kind words. my friend is also a member of this forum and I know he will be pleased, if a little overwhelmed, as I am by your comments.
I will send a letter to the Kamloops Daily News but I want to put it in a form which does not become antagonistic to the anti-hunters out there. I don't believe that will do justice or lend any dignity to our actions. Any constructive ideas would be welcome.
What we did was nothing but the right thing given the circumstances. All we did was give a few hours of effort to aid a couple of stricken animals.
Many thanks, once again.

Tack, I understand how you wouldn't want to be antagonistic in your letter, I wouldn't either. Some of the better writers on here might be able to give you some valuable insight and help on how to put a letter together. If I were to write it myself I would probably just tell the story of how you were going duck hunting, and wound up saving a couple desperate Moose. People will draw there own conclusions and you won't have to be antagonistic.

That's just awesome! What are the chances that you guys would end up there at that lake on that day with a canoe? Honestly that just blows my mind. Must have been a total rush when you finally got them free... give yourself a high five!
