My 14 year old was fortunate to get another large moose (last year he got a monster). Another hunting partner had shot a moose near the edge of the lake. We were cleaning it and my son was on grizzly watch! Surprising enough, another bull moose walked out into the lake about 400 yards from where we were noisily cleaning the 1st moose. My son noticed it, so we walked along the lake edge until he could get a good shot. It was not long until we had 2 moose to clean and get back to camp. This moose was shot in late August so it still had the velvet. Also notice the blonde on the velvet kind of unique in my opinion. 4 hunters had 3 moose so we had good success. My son was fortunate to have shot the largest.

Good job, start making the memories as early as possible. I bet it's nice to have the young fellow there for cleaning and packing duties too!

I would have thought the velvet would be long gone by now.

Nice to see you are more discreet with the flicks than your buddy was. Guess from the length of time it took you to post, some realization of what your effect on this area can be, must have become prominent. Congratulations to your son on a good Moose and we can only hope that some will be left for his future trips.

Stone sheep steve you asked about going with me. I advertised in July on this site for anyone to go with me. I had 2 brand new hunters from this site with me plus my son. All 3 of them got their moose. For 1 hunter it was his first animal and the other hunter his first moose. It is very expensive to get to 7b from Vancouver. I will be going again next August just contact me in early July if you are interested. I ask that you help out with the gas. And yes Todd I did get scoped I was shooting at one moose and had poor footing at the lake's edge

nice to see guys enjoying themselves and having the great sucess you guys did. congrats. velvet with the lighter colored stripes is not uncommon on moose don't know what causes it but have seen lots of bulls with it. congrats again.

Congradulations DAS. You seem to have a good idea of where to get some big moose. Cheers, live till 100 on that organic steak. Dave
