That 8-5 is a pretty productive area but wow , talk about busy, sometimes it seems like theres fewer people in metrotown mall. that Tullameen is sure a pretty area though

It's great country, you can avoid the crowds if you get off the main roads. I've seen big-bulls and cows in the area I like, but yet to see an immy.
Seeing more and more Elk in the last few years too!

I saw three moose on the side of Coquihalla yesterday between Kelowna and Merritt. Seems like a pretty good indication that there are plenty of moose around.

not bitter just hate seeing truck loads of road -quad hunters up here trying to hunt what left of the moose population and feeling sorry for all the lucky LEH dudes that have to wait 2 weeks before they can start hunting them

no not realy just not as many as there once was, would be nice if there was a few more young ones allowed to grow up just think the ima's season starts little to early and goes to long but maybe that would just make a few extra for the ones the hunt with a feather in there cap

I guess it goes back to the efficacy of using an immature bull season as a management tool vs having limited entry only. I am sure the MOE would shut it down in a heartbeat if there was a problem - like in region 5.

Well the truck and trailer are loaded, guns are clean and in the case and I now just have to lay awake for the next 6 or so hours till I can fire up the wagon and head for the hills. Going in to reg. 8-6 for a looksee. anyone spots a red pathfinder with HBC sticker on rear window feel free to stop for a coffee or a hello unless of coarse It's parked roadside, that means I'm either setting up a stand or draggin out something with an exit wound. Good luck to all and I'll hopefully have some pics for sun. night or monday

You're singing from your WSSBC guide buddies' book Skip. There's no shortage of moose. The guides just want to discourage resident hunters. Greedy p###ks! They shoot 14 - 16 of their 19 quota every year (even though their quota is supposed to be 15...they stole 4 tags from residents because the bio can't do the math of 15% x 99). All this success for your guide pals DESPITE the spike/fork season!

We used to hunt GOS any bull in region 8 with twice the number of hunters in the area. Get with the program.

I have a W.Koots bull moose draw and I do find it odd that my rifle portion doesn't start until Oct 15th but the spike fork season is open today for rifle??? I am bow hunting at the moment for my bull so its not a super big deal it just seems odd to me that I have to wait until Oct 15th to use a rifle for my any bull LEH but if its got two points or less I can shoot it with a rifle???

I treat the spike/fork moose season as a bonus hunt. I will carry a tag just in case but I doubt I would ever specifically set out to hunt moose. This year is diffrent because I have an LEH but normally its more if the opportunity arises deal. Most of my buddies feel the same way but some of the older gents at the rifle range are very excited for the new spike/fork moose season here in the W.Koots. They get to moose hunt again like they did in years past even though its a spike/fork season its getting some guys out more....

I came around a corner on my quad heading back to the truck last night and there was my immature bull standing 20 yards away on the side of the road. He took off running into thick cover before i could stop the quad. It was 7.15pm and getting way too dark to even bother going in after him with the hopes of a shot.

Well it was an interesting weekend to be sure, I got my tree stand set up in a nice little grove of mixed poplar and aspen overlooking a fair sized field that is well used at last light. In 2 days of mostly road hunting I counted 26 does, 5 elk, 2 bucks (3x2 and 2x2)and no moose. The 3x2 was freakishly big bodied and we had a staring contest for a solid 10 mins before he turned his head enough for me to count points. Try as I might, I was unable to sprout that all important 4th point. Oh well, pics will be along later once I resize and clean a few up. Oh yeah, anyone interested in a cooey single shot 410 send me a pm, only saw a few grouse and I think I am better off with my 20 guage lol.

was up in the Dee-Lake chain yesterday, paddling about. never seen so many fat ****s on ATV's screaming around the country side. has to be 30 5th wheels crammed into every forestry Rec Site in the area. looked like may two-four in an Ontario Prov. Park.

This is hunting to some people?

I was in 8-5 since friday, got home last night. Did lots of walking, lots of sitting, lots of glassing and added some nice new custom BC pinstriping on my truck. Saw lots of doe's, doe's with fawn's(a few still spotted???) A ton of moose track and poop, but not a single moose or buck anywhere. Lot's of really nice area in there. I only saw 3 other hunters and they were on quads.

On the long weekend I stalked 3 sepperate bucks but spooked them all as I wasn't actually on a hunting trip and brought no camo or any real hunting gear except my bow and a knife. Stalked to within 50 yards of a nice 3x3 muley while wearing blue jeans a brown under armour hoodie and some Ididas running shoes, but he busted me as I stepped out to draw.

back from a few days at "the lake" in 8-5. Didn't see a single deer or moose, but saw 7 elk ( 4 cows, 2 calves and 1 shooter (6x) bull [too bad it wasn't the 25th yet]).
Tons of bear around, but they all seemed to have cubs with them. Saw two with triplets, and a beauty chocolate bear I almost pulled the trigger on, watched her for 20 minutes then the cubs came out!

Odin got a good run on birds too.

All and all not a bad couple days, if only it wasn't so hot.
