What is the best technique for scaring ungulates?

I've tried it all. Sirens, lights, chainsaws, ATV's, dirtbikes, loud open V8 exhaust, singing, banjo, Eminem rap, shooting, sneaking around in camo and face paint while wearing mocassins.

The best results have been from an elk bugle and deer call.

an elk bugle or a deer grunt at the "wrong time" will get them running faster in the other direction, than any of the other noises you described! so true!
