stay close to town or get ready to walk the thick stuff you will have to damn near step on them to get them moving.

better be good with your bow cause they're fast and spooky. These deer live on the edge of town. They are averaging bout 2 feet at the shoulders so look low and deep.

having hunted texada for the past 5 yrs, the deer are definetly spooky during hunting season, however if you want to walk there are lots of areas on the island to get away from the people and the deer are definetly less wary, a good bet is to talk to dan at the Texada Island inn and pick his brain for knowledge. have a couple of tree stands near the airport, and lots of moving deer morning and dusk.

They're starting to calm down a little now. Hunting close to Gillies Bay where they hide out during rifle season is a good bet. Also working along just about any section of shoreline that isn't cliffs first thing in the AM is usually productive. Good luck!
