I would definatly say around the Clearwater area. Huge bucks pretty much anywhere you go. Easy access. Doesnt get much better then that.

No the EK is not good. Its really over rated, and a long drive from the LML. It used to be good, but its over hunted. LOL. No really though the EK is good hunting but it is busy. You need to know the areas to find a spot away from the flock of hunters coming here, mainly for elk. Alot of them just road hunt so if you dont mind hiking and spending a few days in the bush you will see some game.

honest awnser is all over depending on what you want to chase. Pick up a BC Road atlas from the book store. Then find an area that interests you, go buy the road atlas for that area and go! I've lived here all my life and could not give you a difinative awnser on your question. Exploring is the fun of this place.

Not much up here in Region 6 . . . between the harsh winter/late spring and the hot dry summer there's hardly a critter to be found. Now with all the bears dying due to lack of salmon it's going to be tough to cut a tag this year! Will be doing a bear count this weekend to varify the rumours. Was just down in the LML recently and saw lots of dangerous game on the streets . . . felt really uncomfortable without the 375!

What do you want to hunt?

Well, there are not many places in BC that compare to Manitoba's Whitetail hunting.

If you just want deer go to the charlottes and you can bring back an entire herd or two. Big Black Bears too.

Depends on what you want to hunt for. Pick an animal and then focus learning as much as you can about it. Read threads, where people are that got them, then hopfully you can get a tag for it. Then you buy a back roads mapbook of the area, google earth it and print off some maps so you can see clearcuts and some trails. From there, buy some hiking boots and a rifle and get out there. Equipment neccesary is depending on location and animal.

Here is a tip from the infamous Jelvis.

Hunters looking for big game should choose the location and the part of hunting season condusive for success.

Follow that tip and you cant go wrong :)

My best advice is to go pound some dirt, joedirte. Pound it really, really hard.

If you do not succeed I would be happy to drop you off near this camp for a great hunting experience:

You got that right MisterTwister unless you are scared of grizzly bears. I have left more discharged copper and lead in the hills than Jelvis has discharged crap.

You can hunt Rabbits easily on the University of Victoria grounds. Suggest you use a shotgun with OO Buck shot, or hunt from a distance with a 30-06
and scope.:-P

Seriously though, grab a copy of the Regs, and figure out which area is close or affordable to you based on the type of animal you wish. Don't forget a hunting licence and appropriate tags.

Read this forum or internet articles for tips on spotting/stalking game.

Good luck

It`s more like ten thousand hunters.I went out opening morning and Every place I normally hunt was full of motorhomes and trailers parked at the head of the accsess roads.Bull River(15 camps)St. Marys up to Grey creek (10)Perry Creek at least 6 in 10 miles,St. Marys River road(6 or 7)all with 12 or more ATV`s .I got pissed off, went home and got my chainsaw and cut a nice load of winter wood out there.Saw 22 ATV`s come by in 45 minutes. One asshat stopped and told me to clean up the branches when I was done(Fat f#ck camo`ed to the nuts with face paint, not from here)I never said a word, just fired up the Husky,36 inch bar and went back to work.It is worse than I`ve ever seen it in 11 years.

as you're from the lower mainland, may I suggest the area between Prince George and Quesnel? you'll feel right at home as 10,000 of your neighbors will be joining you.

Yes...I am going to try and fill my cow elk tag in October in the EK. After that, I will never hunt the EK again (expect for maybe sheep). Way too many hunters. I'll stick with the West Kootenays...besides being home, there are some tough-to-find honeyholes that are better than the EK anyway, and best of all...the hordes of "lowermainlanders" drive right through heading east....lol:p

Well if your really quiet you could sneak your way to the back section of Costco where the strip loins are. The odds are really good there, just have to fight your way through the urban jungle for a parking spot...........LOL.........

Try a forested area. Or a clearcut. Or the transition on edge between the cutblock and the mature timber. I do not suggest farmer's fields without permission.

BCBillies, typically the game in the LML is only dangerous when in their amoured SUV's with lo profile tires, polished chrome spoke rims, and no idea what the 4X4 button means.
