LEH for 4-03 Cow - calf elk Sept 21 -30

My 16 yr old son & I are coming to hunt for cow / calf elk on sunday, we are looking to camp around lower Caven area. Would that be a good area to camp & hunt?

I'm heading there with a partner who got the same tag....one of I believe 121 issues for this hunt. I hope it isn't a warm gong show. Looks like it must be mostly on private land. Good luck and may run into you there.

Not sure if you will get on any private land, I have been trying to find out if there are any ranchers allowing us to go on there land but haven't had any luck. looks like we will be hunting on crown land.

Best wear Flame Orange boyz .... it will be a gong show ...... past is proof.

Don't understand why these tags are not spread over a greater time, low land, ranch Elk are problem Elk period ......

But thats another issue.

Now I know why he asked me to bring my flack jacket along. I wonder if there are any 6 pts hanging around with these low land, ranch , problem ELK?

When you say the Lower Caven do you mean the back end or up by Koocanusa Lake?
There are lots down the newgate highway (more private land) but just slip over to the Linklater FSR and you may have better luck there.
