Region 4 Whitetail Newb

I have recently moved to Castlegar for a few months. I am not too familiar with any decent hunting locations around here and I am also a newb hunter. I was thinking about going for Elk but I think that may be a bit ambitious for now. I have decided to go for Mulies or Whitetail. Can anybody give me some advice on where to go or what to look for? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If i have to make a weekend of it, which i wouldnt mind at all, i could travel to other areas.

You could also join the local gun club. I'm sure there is one in your town, you would get lots of info. & help there. Maybe even get invited out with some of the "good old boys".
