Hey,

Has anyone hit up Sooke for salmon lately? Would you like to share any of your good spots, I'm taking the GF's grandfather - any help would be appreciated.

We will be staying and launching at the sunny shores camp ground.

Thanks

frankly it hasn't been good for chinooks-only 38 fish weighed in at the high priced derby last weekend out of 55 boats entered for two days fishing. Its been a really spotty summer for springs, one or two good weeks but August should have been better

Ya i was in that high priced derby there were a lot more fish caught than were weighed in just about all the fish came in from the bluffs rite out in front of the harbour.Just be sure your in more than 60ft of water as there is a closure there. The 90 ft line seemed to be best at 60-90ft anchovies were best but we also had some nice fish on white glow hootchies.Or try cutpug thats what we got our third place fish on.
Good luck.

Is it true that 1st and 2nd place fish were caught by the same boat? Overheard some guy's talking about it at work today. A 40lb and a 37lb?
If so, beers are on them!

YUp good on them although my nads are still hurting from getting bumped from second to third i went from 50 to 25 gs in one swift kick. But i have to take my hat off to them good job unbelievable. 1st was 40.something 2nd was 37.8 and ours was 37.2.
All and all a great derby one of the best i've been part of.
