Daughters First Mulie

We went out camping for the weekend and decided to go out this morning for a hunt. Up early 5 AM and on the road 10 minutes later. On the way up we spotted a small 2 pt. mulie which was still in velvet, first time out this year so my daughter decided to let it live another day.
As daylight was breaking fast and we were close to our spot, we pulled over,parked and out we went. We neared the first corner 3 does trotted away to the right, not very spooked. Next corner we were in full view of a nice sized buck. My daughter aimed, squeezed the trigger, bang and the deer was moving straight uphill,casual pace like nothing ever happened. She quickly reloaded, I gave out a loud snort and it was enough to make him pause and turn broadside, BANG and it was all over.
High fives, hugs and her first 3X2 Mulie was down.

There have been a couple of comments on the rifle, it is, as guessed, a Savage Model 99C. The cartridge is a 308 using Norma 150 grain, Semi-pointed Soft point-Boattail.
