saw a 6 pt elk and need your help

OK guys, i saw a 6 pt elk and with it was a cow and calf that was a couple of days ago.I went back today and only saw the cow and calf.Now the bull may have made us and moved out of sight , but would that bull stay with those two or would he move off to look for more cows?
By the way i was buggling and cow calling both days and got no response, but just caught them in some thin trees.

Likely he's moved on, especially if shes not in estrous.
He was probably "checking" her.
Look for more cows, the bulls will be close by.

I've watched bulls hang with the same cows and calves for a week. He's around, but will often hang back in the trees and let the cows show themselves. Many times I've watched cows for hours and then caught sight of an antler tip slip through the balsams. And people still ask why I spend $$$$$$$$ on top end Kraut optics. ;-)
