I found this while looking at another hunting froum.
Great elk, horable end to its life.
No other details were available other than this was in the US.

A deadfall trap.........or photoshop. Gee that tree was either very fast or the elk was very slow. I have suspicions anyway.

perhaps it is one of those geneticlly enhanced racks and it has a really small body for the size of its head:roll: so small in fact that it is crawling under the fallen tree cause it cant jump over it with its teeny tiny legs:biggrin:

Well if its a real pic,it must have been 1 hell of a stench, when the pic is expanded to 400%,there is no body attached, and looks like its whole nose is missing.......

that picture was posted several months ago on HBC, as for the elk ? look at all the TONS of raven crap on the fallen tree and the ground and the rocks, also to the right of the fallen tree the ground has been worked up and dug away quite a bit by predators/scavengers, the nose has been eaten off the elk as well as the majority of the carcass, more than likely the elk died of something other than a falling tree, maybe shot and lost, undiscovered by a hunter or a predator kill, the fact the elk is on a side hill would suggest that ur maybe a bear attempted to drag it downhill, then the antlers wedged under the fallen tree,,,not to mention the rotten log to the right of the fallen tree has been worked over REAL good by a BEAR,,,

this picture thread is a Re-Run,,,

Most mature trophy animals die as a result of an accident or old age not by a bullet or arrow.

There is a shadow, If you look on the ground infront of the right antler, the one that is on the ground, there is a antler shadow.

I am looking at this photo as it were real... I have no judgment of the origin of the photo but and I am not suggestiong it is real or fake, but there is decomp around the nose, and maybe wolves or Yotes eat the reast of the body...

I have to admit it does look a little odd how the Elks head is but I could see how it has happened... It is not like the top of the tree fell on him, and I can see how a elk rubbing a dead tree could bring it down...

Who knows

I had a friend killed 2 years ago by a falling tree in a windstorm....don't be so quick to dismiss the likelyhood of the same thing happening to an elk.

well we all know now, when a tree falles in the woods does anyone here it, and the answer is no, as the elk did not here it falling,, or it would have moved, or maybe his mind was on something else,,,(cow elk), ?????? intresting pic,,

I can assure you that pic is real, look at all the raven shit on the tree, noone would have though to add that just for effect. A good question is why would someone waste their time photos shopping a photo that is believable anyways???

I say it's a real pic. Tree fell on a moving car last year and killed the driver outside of my town. They gotta fall sometime.
