Seen several bucks over the last few days as well as 4 today. Some were bigger than others including a 5x4 but this guy was the only one that stood still long enough for me to make the 30 yard shot.

Thanx guys. He went about 25 yards before laying down. I was a little worried because there was lots of blood and then it vanished but found him after about 5 minutes.

looks like he started to rub the velvet off-I guess you'll have to finish that off for him :) Good work

Hey gary is the buck rubbing on tree's and bushes yet or is the antler bin scraped from you dragging it ?
way to go getting a buck with a well placed arrow too -- that's very worthy
Jelly -- rubbing yet ?

Actually, i grabbed him by the horns to pull him out of the ditch he laid in when he died and the velvet slid off in my hands.

Because i work afternoons and have been going out before work i didn't take the time to set up my tree stand. I was cruising along and he was standing in a clearing.

I know. That's the exit hole and i couldn't find the entrance one so i asked the butcher to tell me where it went in. It was a lung shot because there was piles of blood.

Yes i'm using crossbow. I tried using compound bows in the past but couldn't get a feel for it. Crossbows are awesome though and when you nail a deer with yours, you'll be hooked.

Nice buck. Question for you, I have the same crossbow, what broadheads are you using, also any tips you have relating to this bow?

Thanks

One thing i did find with this bow is that after shooting it a few times you have to take your allen wrench and tighten the limb down from time to time as it seems to work itself slightly loose. A little bit of play may be the word for it. Also when i bought it, the guy told me that they have had problems with the plastic limb tips cracking so he sent me some spare ones just in case. If you have that problem then go to www.canadacrossbow.com and you can get some spare ones. In the pic section of the site, you'll see a pic of me in the back of my truck with the deer i got last year using the exact same broad heads as this deer i got. Hope you find what you're looking for in terms of preference.

Gary;
Nice buck there Gary!

It will, as others have noted, taste like veal.

That is quite the exit hole your broad head made. I think you've found what works eh?

I still owe you a coffee some day by the way. Might have to wait until after season now though.

Again, congratulations on the nice buck.

Thanx Dwayne,
I couldn't believe how great its teeth were. They were pearly white and no wear on them. It will be great to actually taste it as i've always shot older bucks. Yes for sure we will have coffee. If i get a big whitetail this year, i'll have you score it for me but since i'm more of a meat hunter than a horn hunter, i wont be fussy but i've always wanted that nice head mount on my wall to go with my bear rug and bear head.
