I am looking at buying the Rino 530 HCX. I am wondering about the Canadian model at 2 watts vs the US model at 5 watts. Will it make that much of a difference. Is there a download that one can use to download the 5 watts into the canadian model or is it simply a setting in the unit. Any help would be appreciated.

You can down on the US units but not up on the Canadian ones as far as I know. Look around, the US versions are available in BC. If all else fails you can pick one up on E-bay as a good price now that the exchange rate is favourable. I bought (2) off E-bay and ended up having a problem with one. I sent it away for warranty and they exchanged it no problem.

Hub Sports in Abbotsford sell both the 2 watt and 5 watt ones. We now all have the 5 watt ones and it does make quite a differance for talking over a longer distance in heavy terrain.
