This morning, while driving up the Alaska Highway to some land I own near Buick Creek, I saw a cougar on the side of the road. This was between Mi. 68 and Mile 73 of the highway. It was the first cougar I have seen in my 22 years living here in Fort St. John. And, yes, it was a cougar!!
Has anybody else seen a cougar up here in the Peace Region?

Saw one up by Pink Mountain in 1997.

My buddy's a houndsmen out of HH. There are definitely some big cats 'round there.

Pretty sure we saw cat tracks on the gravel bar this year, I pointed them out to my partner and he was scratching his head too. Looked like every cat track I've ever seen. This was well past summit!

I hear that one was spotted 3 doors down from my house about a month ago, last yr a couple school yards were closed due to Cougar sightings, and several Truck Drivers reported seeing one at about 50km on the Liard hwy a couple yrs ago, as well as one on the SYD Road.

I lived on Jackfish Lk road for a few years, a few years ago...there were lots of sightings and although I didn't see any personally there was lots of sign around.

There were lots of sightings up by my Pa's ranch in Farrell Creek too.

A rancher just south of Wonowon spotted a cougar walking across his field while we were up hunting on their property last year. he said it was the first cougar he had seen in all his years there....but not the first he had heard about. He seemed to think that some had been transplanted to the region in recent years.......
