Well Im pumped for Jr. Season. I couldnt take the kids last year, and the year prior my nephew missed a 3 point due to his first case of buck fever.

This Year we are taking four boys, On 16 year old, two 13 year olds, and my own boy aged 8!!.

The 16 and one of the 13 year olds will have there own hunting license's so no ones tagging my dear this year!!!

Anyways we are leaving Sept 2-6 and we are blessed to have a few options. I think we will start at my Red Lake cabin in region 3-29, and if that doesnt look good move over to our other place in region 3-27.

Who else is going and what sub region?

Good luck and take a kid hunting!!!!!

100% all over this year. The kids don't go to school till the 8th so we get the whole week. Heading to Barrier/Adam lake area. And with the great tip I was given this morning, my hopes are even higher!!

If you don't fill all the kids tags at Red Lake Chris, give me a call. I'm hoping to get my Grandson out for the evening hunts that week, have to work but there's lots of light in the evenings. There should be lots of small bucks running around, maybe a few big ones too!!! Hope to see you guys on the mountain. Marv

Taking my 15 yr. old son and a buddy's 16 yr' old son somewhere in region 3 or region 8 the 31st through the 3rd. Depends on what's happening with the forest fire situation.

I've got a week booked off of work. We'll have 4 or 5 days of hunting the Region 3 youth season and then well hit the Region 7 youth seasons for another 4 days. Gonna be a whole family affair this year, as my 11 year old daughter is keen to cut her ol' man's tags.

I will be taking my 13 year old out again this year in 3-12. I want to save my other Mule Deer tag for region 8! We will be out before first light on Sept. 1. He got his first deer last year and I am hoping we can connect on another one for him this year. I will be out scouting on Sunday and Monday to find a good spot. I have been busy all summer and have not been out in the woods at all. Wondering how it is looking? I have had a few reports that it should be a good year for deer.

we'll be heading back to bolean lake(3-26) since my friend has his trailer set up there for the camping season.hopefully his son will get his first buck but i think it's gonna be tough since the natives have set up camp at nearby arther lake this past weekend. they had already taken two young bucks and one young moose by sunday. they were quite well set up to stay for awhile. they even had a big deepfreeze hooked up to a generator. it also looked like they were setting up to do a lot of smoking the meat.
it will be interesting to see what happens on opening day

I used a .243, in fact I still do use it. My favorite rifle and I've shot everything from coyotes and gophers to mountain goats and bears with it.

.243 or 7-08 (or) 25-06 in a reduced load would be my suggestion.

I bought a Marlin 30-30 for my son who is on the smaller side. Works good!

definately either the .243 or the 30-30!
.243 flies real fast, but i find the 30-30 has a little more hitting power
both are great guns!
