Who here has shot a grizzly with a bow, it would seem to me that it would take a large set of stones do it, maybe I'm bored but i admire anyone who has, any stories?

I would love to try it, but I love hunting to much to die right now!

that video is exactly why I would never hunt a grizz with a bow. even if you did make a perfect shot, that bear will have the presence to hunt you down before he expires.

only way I would try this is from a tree stand.

I think I could run faster than the Jamaican guy after I shot a grizzly, I'm not sure though, maybe a grizzly with a bow is the ultimate hunt.
Stupid me, I only have to out run the grizzly I dont have to beat the jamaican guy.

A bow or a black powder smoke pole, a guy would need a large set to pull that off imo.

Thats Pat Lefemine off bowsite.com.
He shot right over its back with his first arrow.

When I get my grizz draw I'll be trying with my bow.

No thanks, right now I love my family too much to do that to them or me. Maybe after when the kids get to be teenagers and drive me nutz I'll think about killing myself that way, but for now I"ll stick with a bigbore for grizz

Its on bowsite and if I recall that is the full version. He always does semi live hunts on there...
99% sure there was only the one camera man, theres a full discussion on it with his involvement.

I didn't think there was alot taken with an arrow but I'm thinking someone on here has. Any big game with a bow sounds thrilling, a grizzly taken on a spot and stalk seems like it would make for a good campfire story.

The only thing that would be more exciting is if you jumped on his back, slit his throat and rode him till he died.
My hat is off to anyone brave enough to take one with a bow.

If I ever get competant enough with my bow I'ld consider it. But I want a shooter looking over my shoulder.

I don't understand why people are so terrified of grizzlies but have no problems with black bears. Had more problems with black bears than I have with grizzlies. To me black bears are far more unpredictable and they don't seem to use their brain like grizzlies do.

Both will chew holes in your hide if you're a shitty shot.

exactly, just cause one's a bunch bigger doesn't mean it'll kill the hell outta you at a different pace, you're gonna be some chewed up if either one takes it into their head to give you a swat.

I've been "warned off" by Grizzlies and charged by black bear so I tend to agree with you on that. It's just the whole mystyic behind the name and reputation that the Griz have gotten from folklore over the years.

Speaking of arrowing a bear.... IF you are old enough to remember the show "American Sportsman" that used to run on ABC on Saturdays it used to run segments of celebrity hunters on different hunts. I remember seeing William Shatner, yep.... Capt. Friggin Kirk, taking a bear with a bow and I believe it was a Griz. As I remember it was damned close too. I don't care who you are, you gotta have a set to do that.

I have seen that pic before somewhere, not sure where. I have been lucky to not have any trouser soiling encounters with any bears so far, close encounters, but not of the soiling kind.

I have done it twice. I cant figure out how to put a picture on here though. I think my buddy Ambush put one on a while ago. I think its titled "grizzly gets an arrow". I have to agree with some on this site. I think people who dont have any experience hunting grizzlies portray them to be a little more than what they are. They are really just another animal with two lungs that die if you puncture them. The first one I arrowed only ran 10 yards before dying.

I agree, I've hunted griz and blacks with the bow, never had the opportunity to let the arrow fly on a griz, just blacks.
