Well I will find myself int he EK come sept 10th, who else is heading out for some elk hunting? Anyone here seem to get one every season? I know Pupper is heading out and I know hunter1947 is all over the Rockies. I can honestly say I have mastered the mouth reed so with that and the hoochie mama and my terminator bugle I think I have a good chance at getting one (and in elk terms "good" means most likely not:razz:)

Happy hunting

I make one big trip a year and have chased elk when I have not been able to go for moose so I have usually hunted elk in what most would consider the rut (last half of sept) but will be hunting them for the opener. Anyone have experience with this? Cow calls? Bugles? wallows?

Will be hunting elk locally until I get one. Have the GOS and if that doesn't produce, have the winter LEH as back up.

I'm fortunate enough that my 'favorite spot' is close enough to home I can go out after work and for the first month or so, can even go out before work if I feel the conditions are just right and I need to be out there. But, I do plan to take the week of Sept 14th off entirely.

Bowhunting on Sept 5-6-7-8-9 in the area west of Creston. Was in there about three weeks ago and saw some very dry sign. Going in to camp solo and see if I can hear anything. Has anyone ever hunted in 4-7? Last year I was around Fernie but did some scouting in 4-7 on my way home. Ran into a C-O in the forest and he gave me some tips on finding Elk in the drainages around Blaze Creek and the next one to the west. Can't recall the name of it but I think it's Bayone Creek. Anyone ever spent any time in that area?

Buddy and I will doing the last half of Oct this year. So I'll put in my request now and ask that you guy's leave us one decent 6-point in 4-26, thank-you!

Also, if you could get close enough to spray-paint a nice big bright fluorescent -orange 'X' over his heart, I'd be much obliged. The eye's ain't what they used to be.

On the upside, this Oct will be 2-yrs without tobacco for me and I've been running 12/k per week in spite of my bum hip.

Good to go!

We have a herd up behind Naramata but you don't know if it's other hunters bugling or an elk when the season comes. I usually buy a tag in case i run into a bull but i don't go out of my way to hunt them with all the hunting pressure that's up there.

I'll be caller for Dad Sept 1 bow opener for elk. This will be our first daddy daughter bowhunt, so we are both really excited. His elk opportunities are looking good as of yesterday and this morning. After that we will try to get him a whitey if he wants one. I've got a couple tree stands he can use, some loose mineral ground licks and some heavily pounded elk trails and the bedding areas and the feeding areas, pinch points for water ect... he will be sure to see elk , his perfect opportunity will be his part of the hunt and I know he will do awsome. Good luck to everyone!
