I was going to re-seam seal my back pack tent for an upcoming fly in.
My dog thought the zipper for the fly would be fun to chew on for a while....he's a smart dog but an a hole....my fault really.
can't remember the last time I was that mad !!!!!!! just for you animal rightists I didn't hit him...as much as I wanted to.
Wouldn't be so bad but this tent has sentimental value, I've had it for over 18 years, it was with me on 5 sheep hunts, 2 sheep kills, many many nights in the fall hunting, climbing in the Bugaboos, Joshua tree, snow camping....all over.
Should retire it really but it's been better to me than......better not say.
ok I'm better now... rants over.
might keep the dog....

Funny thing similar happened to me I bought a high dollar lab that was in training and at six months old he ate my wifes new couch and chair I just bought her, well when she came home it was the dog or me that had to leave I lost and the dog went to new home and is doing well three years later and is a great dog.

What is even funner is I went to buy new funiture for the wife and stopped at the casino and won $10,000 on 3 dollar bet on a slot machine so things worked out well except I didnt want to give up the dog. Oh and in case you are wondering we now have a pug that pisses everywhere!!!
Keep the dog things will work out in the end!

I have a golden retriever and when she was just a pup she chewed thru the kitchen chairs, and dug holes THRU the porch. Now that she has out grown that stage she is the ultimate kid babysitter, she will not let the kids out of her site. Now im in the process of re-doing the porch.

My lab ate my 8yr old 400$ hunting jacket and its replacement, he ate my father inlaws shoes plus a few of my wifes, when bustin out my yard he went through the neighbours skirting on the trailer several times (old osb)
dug holes in the yard etc onanon. But he is the best damn bird dog ive hand now that he is 4. swims through breakers sea duck hunting barks at birds in trees so i look up. brings them all to my feet.

We have 2 Goldens, the older one 5 is glued to my wife's side, not so smart but so well tempered, he never never barks except when the younger one torments him to the braking point. Then he lays a beating on him..but of course that what the younger one wants, freaks people out how they go at each other lips curled back biting and snapping...amazing how they never draw blood.... every year I have to rebuild large portions of my yard because they play like this for hours.

The younger one 3 ( AKA @$$ hole ) is glued to my side at all times and thinks I'm the best, he seems to be able to read my mind as all I need to do is make hand gestures and body language and he does what I want... it's cool.
Just this chewing thing that drives me nuts, shoes ,hose, baby toys, he can destroy an electrical plug and cord, eat the rubber and spit out the prongs and copper.he seems to be slowly growing out of this phase...but not fast enough to save my tent... the wife laughed when I told her about it.
wouldn't trade them for anything, but man their expensive.

We just had to put ours down after only having her for 6 years. The best dog i have ever had and she never chewed a thing. Just incredible. I dont know how we will ever replace here. You dont know how good you have it until they are gone.
