Thinking of maybe trying some different country this weekend. Can anyone tell me about Finger Lake, south of Vanderhoof. I understand there are rainbow and kokanee in the lake. How big are the fish on average.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Chris

I havent been there in a long time but I am pretty sure it is known for large amounts of pan sized trout. Probably under 3 lbs is the norm

Chris, looking at the photos of the Finger Lake Resort that Bartells provided show some pretty decent rainbows. Kokanee look smaller than the ones in the lake nearby your place.:lol:They have a special on their cabins too.

I use to hunt moose there in Oct.. And the fishing was so plentiful you couldn't keep them off your lines. I would think it's pretty busy up there now-a-days. But you could also try the smaller lakes around the area.

I haven't been there for about 10 years, but when I did spend a weekend fishing there, we caught endless 6 inch trout -- same thing all over the lake.
It would be fun if you have kids, but I got bored really quickly.

Never saw a kokanee - lots of wildlife

After fishing Kokanee here in Quesnel this past weekend and having the best fishing I've had in years I don't think I want to go after little festermockers. On Saturday we release over 30 fish and kept 7 Kokanee that were in the 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lb range. Sunday was a repeat performance. The only downfall was the amoiunt of ski boats and pleasure boaters that hit the lake around noon. It got too busy. Maybe I'll head up to Stony or Narrow and chase char.

Hil Colin. Haven't heard from you in quite some time. If you look in my photos in the gallery you will see a nice 10 lb char I took out of Narrow two years ago. I nailed two 10's that year and my buddy Dave also got a 10. Send me and email sometime and let me know whats happening.

Haha. Hey Chris if you want some big azz Kokes, head down to Horse or Sulphurous near 100mile. Horse has bigger (2lbs avg, a few threes), Sulph has lots in the 1.5-2 and good burbot fishing to boot

Been there twice, once fishing, once hunting. The good news is that you can catch rainbows all day long, bad news, there pretty small on average.
