Well,
Here are a couple of photos to hold you guys and gals over till I can write a better story.
The nitty gritty of the hunt are as follows:
On the evening of the eighth day and a long way off the beaten path of a sixteen day hunt, after my partner bcbillies got his second stone ram the morning previous, I found this guy in a band with five other rams (three legal) and two ewes. I got him with a single 200gr. .338 E-tip @ 309yds. Quite a steep down hill shot.
I got back to camp after midnight and returned for the meat in the am.
I am elated with such a good animal but was disappointed to see he broke off about 2 inches from his right horn. (I have already started the arrangements to have it fixed)
We spent the next day and a half prepping for the trek out and three full days after that we arrived home.
I am going to spend the rest of the summer concentrating on spending time with my son. Starting Tuesday we are headed for Play land, and then various other parts of the country till school starts. I wanted to briefly share the hunt with you all before I left.

Congrats on a very nice ram, Im guessing by you saying he broke a couple inches off his horn he took a fall for looks like a hunk of hide missing behind the jaw as well.

Congratulations 6 K and to your hunting partner BCbillies. What an incredible adventure and a great stone. I hope when you have time, you will post information on the gear and preparation you did for this trip. From reading BCbillies post this was one incredible trip in many ways.
I hope you have a really nice time with your son for the rest of the summer.

Congratulation on your success!!!!!!!!
nice looking Ram, like the color phase.
the 338 did a good job but with a whole Ram on board probably didn't do you any favors on the pack out !!
I'm envious....hope to find myself in country like that some day ;-)

Normally I would agree, that is of course if one found him like that BEFORE he shot him. This one however had both his lamb tips and I loved the flair and curling back of his horns. So I just gotta fix it.

Bayou,
Ya, he rolled quite a ways. I thought a spine shot would have anchored him on that grassy slope. It did drop him in his tracks but to my surprise he rolled over and that set him in motion not to be stopped for a long ways. No falls just a lot of rolls:sad:

Nimrod,
I pack T.Z.O.D. ( my .338 ) everywhere and sleep soundly at night. He would have done me great favor if we had to tangle with the bear that made the 7" tracks on the path. I am not one to tick off a already hungery bear with lightwieght thin jacketed small dia. bullets .;)
Here's hopeing you find the same bear in a week or so.
Here's hopeing I find a compareable one next month.

Well done 6K. Glad you got back safe and sound from the hunt. Hopefully you`ll be back safe and sound from the metropolis down south soon and I can get more hunt details in person and see more photos. Pretty good, two rams in two years. Not bad. I wish I could have done the same. But last year we knew that wasn`t going happen for me.

Full body mount with this one.
