I've only seen them while hunting on the Island a few times. They're usually up high in the mountains and flying fast. I've only ever shot one, and believe it or not it was with my .410 and I was after grouse.
they arent really huntable they are an insidental by-catch when bird hunting. they are high up and if you do get into some they seem to fly in the same circut, so if you see them go to a spot that you hit them from they should return to that spot.

Band-tailed pigeons in region 1-06 where I hunt are only open sept15-30. i've only seen them in higher areas, when hunting everything else. The last morning doves i saw were at my mothers place in grand forks.
