I am looking for a reasonably priced sleeping bag for the ball and chain. Thinking synthetic in the -10 range. Any suggestions out there from you gear ho's.

Hate to say it but MEC ain't a bad place for that kind of gear.

Some times you're left with few choices.

Make sure you get something extra warm - I'll never figure out the whole deal on this but a cold 'woman' ain't good.

Make sure you can zip yours together, so you can get all comfy-wumfy after a hard day of seeing f*&%-all.

He'll probably see lots out hiking around in a national park on his anniversary while the hunters are out chasing sheep.

Taking it to a whole new level.

Who's gonna get married on November long weekend so they can waste the muley rut?

For price check out the Marmot Trestles, it can be had for $79 right now at Coast Mountain Sports. Have a look at the Cat's Meow from North Face too.
If you want to spend a few more bucks, check out the synthetic versions of Montbell's Super Stretch bags, the UltraLamina 15 from Mountain Hardwear or even the Integral Designs North Twin. A few more bucks, but nicer bags for when you want to borrow them.

I just got my wife a new sleeping bag there. The guys are excellent, the products are too. Lots to pick from and not any more expencive than the "big box" just around the corner.

I am Muslim. I married this one on a date that ruins sheep hunting and married the other on a date that ruins the muley rut. Talk about planning. At least I can stone them if the piss me off.

I just dropped A LOT of money there. They are great to deal with and nice people.

There's a difference between sleeping bags for men and women?
Keep this up and before you know it they'll be allowed to vote.

I don't know if this would interest you, but, I have a Feathered Friends superlight down-Gore-Tex bag, the type that takes a Thermarest in a sleeve on the bottom. I had this custom made for me years ago, back when FF was THE premier bag maker in North America and have only used it a little bit.

It is like new and has had the seams sealed, I HAVE slept in it down to near 0*F on a number of trips, BUT, I cannot say if anyone else can use it at such temps. comfortably. I did not specify firmly enough to FF what girth I wanted and it is slightly too snug for me and I have 8 or 9 bags at present, so, I will sell this one.

I would give someone a good deal on this bag, it is TOP quality and, btw, I own and use the other maker's bags who compete with FF, in this price range, so, this is not just bullschitt. It comes with a new Thermarest that I have never used and would last most users a lifetime. If, interested, let me know by phone or PM.

I am cleaning out my gear room and trying to get rid of stuff I have not used in years. My wife is 5'4' and stocky and this fits her perfectly, but, she is diabetic and has heart issues and does not want to go camping. So, if your spouse could use this, let me know.

If, not, get John to order her an ID North Twin in HER size as this is THE most practical hunting bag I have ever had and I use mine far more than all of my highend down bags combined. This would be your BEST choice in practical terms.

Hello Dirty
Sleeping bags are a topic all to themselves. It's just like asking what make of rifle should I buy.She has to try them out first, throw it on the store floor and get into the bag.Does she have enough room width wise?Is it long enough? What is the bag temperature rating?Cold sleeping people are just that,if she is she will need a warmer bag.Get one that you can open at the bottom for ventalation.Rectangular bags are roomy but you sacrifice warmth, mummy bags probably offer the best for warmth but if she moves around a lot in her sleep she will not be comfortable,Talk to a salesperson that lives in a sleeping bag ie.lot's of time in the out doors.I bought a Taiga semi rectangular down bag with Gortex outer shell about 20+ years ago it's awesome, but way too warm for late spring and summer. They were made in Vancouver, do not know if they still are. There are many good manufacturers out there. You get what you pay for!Just my two cents worth

A "Taigaworks" bag and I HAVE used their gear, back about '81-'82, is to an Integral Designs bag, much as a Yugo is to a Lexus.

In 45+ years of very active camping all over BC, much of Alberta and some other places and spending 6-7 months in bags ever year for much of that time, plus selling bags for a living, I have seen a lot and my suggestions are based on that.

Here in Vancouver, the majority of gear sales-persons are low-paid kids who have NO real bush experience and have never even heard of Valandre, PHD or any of the top gear makers. So, taking advice from an MEC or Taiga or CMS staffer is a gamble, to put it mildly.

NOBODY today is making a synthetic bag(s) equal to Integral Designs, nobody and the cost of these is not excessive, relative to the use one can get from them. You do, in fact, ...get what you pay for...

But, what IS most important, is that each person is happy with what THEY choose/use and, if, a Taiga bag is what an individual likes, great, I liked some of their older gear very much and found them pleasant to deal with....more so than certain other stores in the Greater Vancouver area.

This makes sense. Instead of giving the outlaws some livestock (sheep/goats) per tradition you just don't go hunting.

Sounds fair...................

Be sure to let me know when you sell your hunting gear.
