Here's a few pics of my Blackbear skull. All work done at home. Really enjoyed it can't wait to do some more! Laid it out on it's own hide for the black background and a bit of texture.

Procedure was fairly simple: skinned out first and remove most surface meat, then popped it into the freezer until I decided what to do with it, then as I was looking into brain tanning the hide of course I had to re thaw the skull for the brains. Seemed to work out good as the brains were really soft and mushy after thawing so that came out easy through the back of the skull with a long handle baby spoon! A bit more knife work to clean off some meat and to the back of the shed it went. Place the skull under some leaves and dirt with a large pot over the whole thing to keep the stink down as I live in a packed neighbourhood!! Figured the pot would also keep and critters from messing with it. Check it after 2 weeks and was totally covered in bugs, Awesome!! Another 2 weeks or so and figured time to check again, near perfectly cleaned! Nasal cavity was perfect too! A few small areas to detail and then degreased and into the peroxide. 3 days later done! Oh yeah after the bugs cleaned it up watch for loose or missing teeth... don't forget to put them all in the peroxide with the skull, let it dry a couple days after the peroxide then glue the teeth back in! All in all not a real labor intensive job.
