Nice looking sheep congrats. Any idea what your pack weighed on the way out?
The pack had to be at least 90-100 minimum. Even after i got rid of most of my food. I still have bad pack rubs on my hips. We would make it a couple hundred feet and have to sit and rest for a minute then go on. 90-100 lbs is just a guess, it could have been way more.

the pack in and out tested me physically and mentally
I found on my first sheep hunt that even with being in excellent physical condition I underestimated the toll packing that much weight takes on your body. when you push thru that pain and realize what your capable of the mental growth you get from that experience is incredible.
Huge congrats to you and your partner....love the 123 shoot... that's awesome.

Howdy, excellent job for your first hunt. Being out there for the first day is what I used to do most of the time, before the guide or whoever has chased them around and made them nervous.
After every hunt we would say that is the last time for sheep but within a week or two when our bodies healed we were planning the next years hunt. Later

Funny I just read an article about this guy in Western Game Warden. The title should be "Too many Stones". Anyways he dosn't have his horns anymore and he's $2500 poorer.
Quote from the article, "The file began in August 2009, when a story titled "first Stones" was posted on the on-line forum website"

In short, he killed a RAM in August, posted pictures in the Forum. Then shot another Ram without a license in a closed area and only took the horns and cape. This time he posted pictures on Facebook. Someone got wise and turned him in. Was charged in 2010 but in March 2012 it went to a hearing and they tacked on another 3 year hunting suspesion on him.

Nice to see braggarts getting their justice. So much for my thoughts about hunters being honest human beings, and sheep hunters being what I consider a "pinnacle hunter".

Pinnacle, that's funny. :)
Sheep hunters are no different form any other human being. They are mostly good and don't break laws. There are some that are greedy and do. And then there are the outfitters. :) :)

well you just can't overcome the "stupid" factor. He was so desperate to prove how successful he was by posting his crimes on the internet that it ended up biting him in the ass, and rightfully so. Im sure someone on HBC was part of the reason he got busted, so that should put us "hunters" on even street in the eyes of Mr Karma :)

Yup the guy I went hunting with that year for stones did something real dumb on another trip later that season. I was NOT there and dont know all the details but he is paying for his mistakes and has been for a couple years now. Havent hunted stones with him since. I was not involved in the incident in any way so I am going to stay out of it. Start another thread if you wanna talk about an incident that has nothing to do with the original thread.

We all make mistakes, especially when we are younger as he appears to be...everyone should be given a second chance though IMO. No one is perfect

Actually this does have lots to do with the origianl thread, in the CO's words. "The file began August 2009 when a story titled "first Stones" was posted on an on-line forum". Also I see you edited the thread in 2010? humm

Wow your quite the detective hammer. After I had heard about this incident I obviously deleted any association on this site with the person in question. I think most people would do the same.

Wrong again, The hunt in august was a great one and the incident in question was later on in the season when I was not there. Again Im not sure of all the details and apparently neither are you
PS there were no pictures ever posted on this thread of poached sheep

Again why would you edit the tread a YEAR after the last person had responded to the thread. A suspicious person would think either something incriminated your friend. If not why change things?
Gateholio

He already said why- He didn't want o be associated with the incident.
