Salt Blocks. A recent study, in Utah, proved that mule deer would choose mineral blocks of different mineral make up depending on there physical needs at the time.

It would be interesting to put two or three different blocks in close proximity and see which one they prefer here at certain times of the year.

And just to head off the "police", this is perfectly legal here in BC.

Great pics Bill. What camera are you using?

is a matter of fact it is a moultrie, how did you know that?
did you know that young elk have spots like that? i didnt, i have seen hundreds of calfs this year but that one is the smallest. i have it on the cam about 6 pictures, seems it just stood there for quite a while posing.
after further examination of the pictures i see the red numbers and letters, yours a moultrie too?

Bill Dance, try and put out a mineral block alongside the salt block. Watch what happens then...

I could tell by your date on your picture. Mine is a Moultrie Game Spy 100V2. I can't seem to get a SD card to work as they freeze up the camera.

I seen a elk show on TV and they said that the spots help them to blend in to the surroundings when they are young and don't run very well.
