Going up to my dad's property tomorrow near bridge lake. I'm taking my belly-boat and fly rod along. Reading the regs online, beside Bridge Lake it says "lake trout release". Does this mean what I think it means; do I have to release any trout that I catch?? Doesn't really make sense. Can someone clear this up for me?:???:

Thanks,
Mike

I think it means if you catch any LAKE trout ( not kamloops or rainbow) you would have to let them go. I didn't know there were any lake trout ( char) in those lakes? Dave

Yes, I agree with Dave. I think the Lake Trout are catch and release, but Rainbow you can keep within the regional limits. Yes, some of the lakes do have Lakers. I just heard of a 19lb one caught in Deka Lake. Not catch and release though.

Very true, no lakers allowed. There are some huge lakers in bridge lake. I caught a 28#er in there a few years back. When we were allowed to keep them. Not to good eatin those big ones. Small ones are tastier. Good rainbow fishing and kokanee in bridge.

Mike, familiarize yourself with the different species that are in the waters you fish. It would be a shame to catch and keep something that you shouldn't, get stopped by a CO and then deal with the consequences of not kowing what you are fishing for. Bad way to ruin a trip.

In Bridge lake, you will have Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Kokanee (not the beer) and Burbot or Lingcod. I believe there are also some coarse fish but am not 100% sure about that. These could be whitefish and suckers/squawfish/pike minnows.

Good post doubled, but the lingcod pic you posted is a saltwater species.

Burbot is a different species that looks a fair bit different. Hard to mix up with a trout either way :D
