It looks like I will be heading up to region 3-30 around Loon Lake this fall. I was looking in the regulations and during the time I will be there 4 point Mule Bucks are open as well as White Tail Bucks.

Can anybody tell me which species I could expect to see there? Is there many White Tails in that area?

You will for sure see Mule Deer, very few W/T in that area.

Is it even worth getting a WT tag?

For $16.05 you'll kick you ass so hard if the only deer you see is a white tail :biggrin:, get a tag. If you do even one day trip futher east or south on the Coq, you may just get to cut that tag.

More muleys, but a few whiteys in the area. Some hybreds. And when it has muley antlers and a whitey body it must be tagged as a whitey. Grab both tags for the price. Note: it's any whitetial buck.

I own some cabins at Red Lake, and its not far from Loon. 5 years ago I wouldnt waste my time on a whitetail. Last year I was seein whitetails everytime I went out. Dont go without a whitetail tag!

depends if you see a W/T and you don't have a Tag.
I know a guy up near Sheridan who has seen W/t from time to time.
Tony has had property up there for 40 plus years...
Is this going to be a one time trip or will you have time to chase a W/T at a later date.
If it is a one time trip save the 16.00 and change for something else.
Just my .02.

One of the guys I was with this weekend took a small Whitetail buck, good thing we were all prepared!

I seen a bunch of whitetails around the new slashes towards the crystal lake area, definately would recommend getting a tag. Mulies are everywhere though! My buddy shot a 5x6 this weekend, looked like an elk at first biggest body i ever seen around there.
