Hey guys and girls I just got a question about the deer hunting up by birken and towards d'arcy in region 2-11. I have hunted up in pemberton but have not been in birken nor d'arcy. Just wondering if there are any access points into some logging roads or old burns and such. Any info on the deer hunting up that way would be much appreciated. Cheers and good luck on your hunts.

Shure there's access from logging roads and deer up there as well, just got to get out there and find em. Here a shot of a buck from one of those high spots, only a five hour hike up 3,700 feet through bush and dead fall.Grab the spotting scope and bino's September's near. Best of luck to all as well .

Be aware that Birken and D'Arcy lie in region 3, where the september season is 4 point or better. Please study your maps and regulations carefully...

Ya that spot is awsome but a bitch to get into. last time we hiked in, there were wolves everywhere and they chased all the deer down into the dense timber and other far of basins, just bad time'n. They are mostly mulie-blacktail hybrids around there along with the Duffy and Hurley areas. But not to say you won't run into a purebread of one of the two subspieces. Here is another big hybrid my brother shot just above the Birken river.:mrgreen:http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss186/frederick280/Mikesbigbirkenheadbuck.jpg

Ya that was one of them de-bone shows up there. Then after we hung the three game bags and had a few sips of Crown around the fire,we had to try and sleep on top of a ridge through the most violent thunder & lighting storm you can imagine. We hoisted on our heavy packs the next morning and got out of there slippen and a sliding through wet snow trying not to wipe out bad enough to snap a leg. well worth it for the memories and the prime venison.:)http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss186/frederick280/7.jpg

Wolves have really pounded this area last couple of years, although there are certainly still deer here. As others have said (and .280's pics show) it's not an easy hunting area around here, most times, you gotta get out of the truck.

Hunted that area a couple times last year. Alot of wolves you can hear them howling like crazy early in the morning out in the bush. last year they kept getting closer and closer untill they were just inside the tree line, thought about trying to call it out with the old foxpro but held out for a chance at a deer. Seen a bunch of deer on our property on gates lake so far this year. I think its best to head out closer to Anderson lake. Best of luck I'll be out there testing my luck also.

Thanks guys for the info.I was wondering because I had just been up there canada day around birken and had seen a good sized 2 point with a doe. I'm curious to see if I go to these areas mentioned above I'll have success. I'll update you guys on how it went. I've been in a logging road just before birken and have seen a few bucks and alot of does with their fawns. Either way the best to you all and may we all have venison.Cheers.

as soon as those bucks hear that first gun shot they head straight up to alpine with no hesitation
